How GLP-1 Receptor Agonists Affect Cholesterol Levels in Diabetic Patients Taking Statins

Abstract

A significant reduction in serum LDL-C and triglyceride concentrations was observed after three months of using dulaglutide in 102 diabetic patients with dyslipidemia uncontrolled by statins.

  • Dulaglutide treatment led to notable decreases in body weight, BMI, and HbA1c levels.
  • The median age of participants was 59 years, with a majority being female (55.2%).
  • The study population exhibited high rates of obesity (96.1%) and hypertension (71.6%).
  • Statistical analysis indicated a significant change in lipid profiles post-treatment (p<0.001).
  • The findings support the effectiveness of GLP-1RA in managing dyslipidemia among diabetic patients not responding to statins.
