Use of Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 Receptor Agonists After Mini-Stroke and Its Link to Risk of Later Stroke and Death

Updated

Abstract

A transient ischemic attack (TIA) is associated with a markedly higher risk of subsequent ischemic stroke.

  • Even with guideline-directed prevention strategies, the risk of ischemic stroke remains elevated after a TIA.
  • Emerging evidence from the LAMP trial suggests that glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) may help prevent secondary strokes.
  • This study evaluates the association of GLP-1RAs with stroke prevention in a real-world cohort.
