Reported Drug Problems Linked to Glucagon-like Peptide-1 Receptor Agonists from VigiAccess Data

Updated

Abstract

A total of 83,210 drug-related problems (DRPs) were reported concerning glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs).

  • Of the reported potential side effects (PSEs) associated with GLP-1 RAs, 315,952 were documented under injury, poisoning, and procedural complications.
  • Dulaglutide accounted for the highest proportion of DRPs at 28.68%, followed closely by tirzepatide at 27.97%.
  • The most frequent patient-related DRP was incorrect dose administered, with 17,797 reports, primarily linked to tirzepatide, dulaglutide, and exenatide.
  • A significant number of reports (13,600) were related to off-label use, mainly involving tirzepatide and semaglutide.
  • Patient education and adherence to therapeutic guidelines are suggested as strategies to reduce the incidence of DRPs.
