Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 Receptor Agonists and Pain Relief in Long-Term Pancreatitis

Updated

Abstract

Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) may have anti-inflammatory properties that could be relevant for chronic pancreatitis (CP).

  • Chronic pancreatitis is marked by irreversible damage to the pancreas and severe pain.
  • GLP-1 RAs have shown potential to reduce inflammation in laboratory studies.
  • The effect of GLP-1 RAs on clinical outcomes in patients with chronic pancreatitis has not yet been studied.
