High-Quality Mobile Apps for Managing Endometriosis

Abstract

Six good-quality endometriosis mHealth apps were identified from a screening of 42 apps.

  • Nineteen apps were assessed for quality, with six meeting the criteria for good quality based on a scoring system.
  • Most apps performed well in usability (84.2%), visual design (73.7%), user engagement (57.9%), and content (78.9%).
  • Only a small number of apps excelled in therapeutic persuasiveness (31.6%), therapeutic alliance (47.4%), and general subjective evaluation (31.6%).
  • Seventeen of the apps were intended for community use, while two were designed for clinicians with a digital classification tool.
  • The findings suggest that mHealth apps should improve factors like usability and therapeutic alliance to enhance user uptake.
