Abstract
Ten new guaiane-type sesquiterpenes, phaeocaulisins A-J, were isolated from rhizomes of Curcuma phaeocaulis.
- The structures of the new compounds were determined using spectroscopic methods and X-ray crystallography.
- Compound 10 represents the first norsesquiterpene of its type identified in the Curcuma genus.
- Compounds 1, 2, 20, and 22-24 demonstrated inhibitory effects on nitric oxide production with IC50 values below 2 μM.
- Preliminary structure-activity relationships suggest potential patterns in the compounds' efficacy.
