Highly sensitive DNA-based method for detecting tiny amounts of kanamycin

Updated

Abstract

The biosensor achieved an ultralow detection limit of 0.3 nM for kanamycin.

  • The fluorescence biosensor uses a DNAzyme-assisted amplification reaction to detect kanamycin.
  • Kanamycin binding triggers a cascade amplification that continuously generates DNAzymes for detection.
  • The system provides a broad linear detection range from 1 nM to 5 μM.
  • It showed high specificity against other antibiotics and consistent recovery rates in spiked water and milk samples.
  • Analysis can be completed within 120 minutes after sample pretreatment, demonstrating its practicality.
