Abstract

The pooled change in fat-free mass (FFM) was -1.8 kg for diet and exercise interventions.

  • Incretin-based therapies resulted in a pooled change of -4.8 kg in FFM compared to placebo.
  • Bariatric surgery was associated with the largest reduction in FFM at -9.1 kg.
  • The proportion of total weight loss due to FFM was 14.9% for diet and exercise interventions.
  • Incretin-based therapies accounted for 33.3% of weight loss attributable to FFM.
  • Bariatric surgery resulted in 34.2% of weight loss being from FFM.
