Updated

Abstract

A sample of 2144 secondary school students in China revealed a reliable checklist for Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD) symptoms.

  • All 9 items of the checklist were significantly and positively correlated.
  • The checklist showed satisfactory reliability for assessing IGD symptoms.
  • Confirmatory Factor Analysis confirmed a unidimensional structure for the scale.
  • Measurement invariance across gender and city groups was established.
  • Significant positive associations were found between the checklist scores and self-identified IGD, loss of control over gaming time, time spent gaming, depression, and suicidal ideation.
