Checking the Accuracy of a New Online Gaming Disorder Symptom Checklist for Chinese Teenagers
Updated
Abstract
A sample of 2144 secondary school students in China revealed a reliable checklist for Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD) symptoms.
- All 9 items of the checklist were significantly and positively correlated.
- The checklist showed satisfactory reliability for assessing IGD symptoms.
- Confirmatory Factor Analysis confirmed a unidimensional structure for the scale.
- Measurement invariance across gender and city groups was established.
- Significant positive associations were found between the checklist scores and self-identified IGD, loss of control over gaming time, time spent gaming, depression, and suicidal ideation.
