The average percent of excess weight loss (%EWL) at 12 months was 65.2% for patients older than 60 years who underwent bariatric surgery.

  • Patients reported notable resolution or improvement in obesity-related comorbid conditions post-surgery.
  • Complication rates for older patients were similar to those in the general population undergoing bariatric procedures.
  • Pre-existing conditions among older patients included hypertension (90.4%), diabetes mellitus (63.9%), and hyperlipidemia (50.6%).
