Abstract

Liraglutide treatment for 35 days resulted in a reduction in body weight and total and regional mass.

  • Liraglutide significantly decreased body mass index (BMI) and fat-free mass.
  • Both absolute lean mass in the trunk and extremities were reduced during treatment.
  • Relative lean mass and fat-free mass percentages remained stable despite the reductions in absolute mass.
  • The findings suggest a need for further research to explore hormonal changes and strategies to preserve muscle mass during weight loss.
