Abstract
Essence
Early low-dose semaglutide was followed by rapid normalization of persistently elevated alanine aminotransferase in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes.
Evidence
This single case report describes a 28-year-old White Hispanic female with Class I obesity and newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes whose persistently elevated alanine aminotransferase normalized after subcutaneous semaglutide initiation.
Caveat
The finding comes from one patient, and the abstract does not establish the optimal semaglutide dose, treatment duration, or whether the ALT change was directly caused by therapy.
