Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is now the most common chronic liver disease globally.

  • MASLD is closely linked to cardiometabolic conditions and is associated with significant liver-related risks.
  • Detection of hepatic fibrosis is critical for predicting liver-related events and mortality.
  • Lifestyle changes and sustained weight loss are essential, but new targeted pharmacotherapies are emerging.
  • Key therapeutic approaches include agents that target metabolic stress, inflammation, and the formation of scar tissue in the liver.
  • Combination therapies and genetic risk assessment may enhance treatment effectiveness and improve patient outcomes.
