Long COVID’s effects on disability, daily function, and quality of life for Australian adults

Updated

Abstract

Participants (n = 121) showed higher levels of disability than 98% of the general population.

  • Significant functional impairment and reduced quality of life were reported compared to established population norms.
  • Most participants (n = 104, 86%) experienced clinically significant disability affecting daily activities.
  • Lower quality of life was noted across all areas, especially in vitality and social functioning.
  • There may be significant links between disability scores and factors like vaccine doses, comorbidities, and self-rated recovery.
  • The effects of long COVID could be worse for those with pre-existing health issues.
