Long-term results of a mobile quitting program with nicotine patches in adult smokers

Self-reported continuous abstinence from smoking was 20% in the Pivot group compared to 9% in the QuitGuide group at 52 weeks.

  • Biochemically confirmed abstinence rates were 31% for Pivot participants versus 18% for those in QuitGuide.
  • Participants in the Pivot group placed more nicotine replacement therapy orders, with 99% ordering compared to 85% in QuitGuide.
  • Self-efficacy scores increased significantly for Pivot participants, with a mean point increase of 3.2 compared to 1.0 for QuitGuide.
  • QuitGuide participants reported a higher number of quit attempts, averaging 9.5 compared to 7.0 for Pivot participants.
  • Among participants who did not achieve abstinence, QuitGuide users experienced a greater reduction in cigarettes per day.
