MARCH5 RNA promotes self-cleaning, movement, and spread of ovarian cancer cells

Updated

Abstract

MARCH5 expression was substantially upregulated in ovarian cancer tissue compared to normal controls.

  • Silencing MARCH5 in SKOV3 cells reduced cell autophagy, migration, and invasion both in vitro and in vivo.
  • Ectopic expression of MARCH5 in A2780 cells increased cell autophagy, migration, and invasion.
  • MARCH5 RNA may regulate the expression of SMAD2 and ATG5 by competing for the same microRNA, MIR30A.
  • Knocking down SMAD2 or ATG5 blocked the effects of MARCH5 in A2780 cells.
  • Silencing MARCH5 in SKOV3 cells inhibited the TGFB1-SMAD2/3 signaling pathway, while its ectopic expression activated this pathway.
