Abstract
The pupillary response to blue light was significantly reduced in patients with normal tension glaucoma (NTG) compared to healthy subjects (p < 0.001).
- Impairment of the melanopsin-mediated pupillary pathway is indicated by the reduced pupillary response to blue light in NTG patients.
- No significant difference was found in the pupillary response to red light between NTG patients and healthy controls (p = 0.6).
- Baseline pupil diameter and the amplitude of pupillary constriction to both red and blue light were reduced in NTG patients (p < 0.05).
- Sleep quality, assessed with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, showed no significant difference between NTG patients and healthy controls (p = 0.6).
- There was no correlation between sleep parameters and pupillary light reflex parameters in NTG patients.
