Outpatient Rehab Program to Improve Daily Function in People with Long COVID: A Randomized Trial

Updated

Abstract

An estimated 10-20% of individuals who contract SARS CoV-2 may experience persistent symptoms associated with COVID-19, known as PASC.

  • Persistent post-acute sequelae of SARS CoV-2 infection (PASC) may involve diverse symptoms across multiple body systems.
  • A randomized controlled trial is designed to compare a six-week multimodal rehabilitation program with self-guided patient education for managing PASC.
  • Primary outcomes will include walking speed and patient-reported health and functioning, assessed at 8 weeks and 90 days after study entry.
  • Secondary outcomes will assess cognitive functioning, pain, fatigue, stress, anxiety, and self-management of PASC symptoms.
  • Recruitment for the study is ongoing to address the need for effective rehabilitation programs for individuals with PASC.
