Abstract
A 9.67% pharmacological bioavailability was achieved using bionic nanoparticles designed to improve oral delivery of exenatide.
- Bionic nanoparticles based on 1,3-diolein grafted hyaluronic acid were developed to enhance oral drug delivery.
- These core-shell nanoparticles showed a 5.6-fold increase in intestinal permeability compared to exenatide nanoparticles alone.
- Higher substitution degrees in the nanoparticles were associated with improved lymphatic targeting and greater exenatide accumulation in the pancreas.
- In vivo studies indicated a persistent hypoglycemic effect in type 2 diabetic rats treated with the nanoparticles.
