Night work and risk of breast cancer in Swedish women

Updated

Abstract

Among 13,656 women, those with over 20 years of night work had a hazard ratio of 1.68 for breast cancer.

  • A total of 463 breast cancer cases were identified during a 12-year follow-up period.
  • In women under 60 years of age, the hazard ratio for those with more than 20 years of night work was 1.77.
  • Shorter durations of night work did not show significant associations with breast cancer risk.
  • The findings suggest a potential link between long-term night work and increased breast cancer risk in women.
