Finding New Peptides That May Block DPP-IV Using Computer Models and Early Lab Tests

Updated

Abstract

Two candidate antimicrobial peptides demonstrated potent binding affinity to DPP-IV, with free energy scores of -15.6 and -16.5 kcal/mol.

  • Candidate peptides were selected based on structural similarity to native GLP-1.
  • Both peptides showed lower predicted binding affinities for the GLP-1 receptor than for DPP-IV.
  • The pharmacokinetic profiles of the peptides indicated optimal absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity characteristics.
  • Peptide 3 exhibited a 36.2% inhibition rate against DPP-IV in laboratory tests.
  • These findings suggest that peptides 3 and 10 may be promising candidates for DPP-IV inhibition.
