Healing results after first-time shoulder tendon repair in non-diabetic patients using GLP-1 receptor drugs

Updated

Abstract

GLP-1 RA use was associated with significantly lower rates of re-tear (RR = 0.699, < 0.001) following rotator cuff repair.

  • Patients treated with GLP-1 RA experienced decreased occupational therapy utilization (RR = 0.686, < 0.011).
  • No significant differences were found in readmission rates, emergency department visits, or mortality between GLP-1 RA users and non-users.
  • GLP-1 RA use was linked to increased rates of cardiovascular complications (RR = 1.426, = 0.038).
  • The findings suggest a potential benefit of GLP-1 RA in musculoskeletal healing, warranting further investigation.
