Partial sleep deprivation combined with sertraline may speed up quality of life improvements in major depression

Abstract

Patients treated with a combination of partial sleep deprivation and sertraline showed significant and rapid improvement in quality of life.

  • Quality of Life changes were evaluated using the WHOQOL-100 scale.
  • Thirteen patients received combination therapy while eleven patients received sertraline monotherapy as a control.
  • Patients undergoing combination therapy experienced a more pronounced improvement compared to those on monotherapy.
  • The study indicates that late partial sleep deprivation combined with sertraline may enhance treatment outcomes for major depressive disorder.
