How Participants' Symptoms Before Treatment Relate to the Quality of Their Psilocybin Experience

Updated

Abstract

In a study of 233 participants, the dose of psilocybin was the strongest predictor of the psychedelic experience.

  • Participants received one of three doses: 25, 10, or 1 mg of COMP360 psilocybin.
  • The psychedelic experience was measured using specific questionnaires.
  • Some pretreatment traits may have a minor impact on the subjective experience.
  • Positive feelings, lower anxiety, better executive functioning, and certain personality disorders were linked to different aspects of the experience.
  • These results suggest that while pretreatment traits could play a role, the dose of psilocybin is the main factor.
