Perillaldehyde (PAH) has significant neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory properties in vitro.

  • Gut microbiota dysbiosis is linked to the development of Parkinson's disease (PD).
  • Therapeutic strategies targeting the gut-brain axis in PD are currently underexplored.
  • PAH is derived from the plant Perilla frutescens and may influence the mechanisms related to microbiota.
  • The effects of PAH on PD in living organisms are not yet fully understood.
