Updated
Abstract
The average total energy expenditure (TEE) of athletes was 3877 ± 508 kcal/day.
- Nearly half of the TEE, averaging 1898 ± 634 kcal/day, was attributed to physical activity.
- Participants averaged 19498 ± 5407 steps and had an average metabolic equivalent of task (MET) of 2.05 ± 2.09.
- The average daily energy intake of the athletes was 2727 ± 576 kcal.
- Energy intake was inadequate in comparison to the athletes' energy expenditure.
- The group displayed a lack of awareness regarding their energy requirements, indicating a need for nutritional education.
