Long COVID Symptoms and How They Affect the Body After COVID-19

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Recovered COVID-19 patients commonly reported symptoms, with fatigue and neurorespiratory complaints most prominent.

Evidence

A 12-month cross-sectional study of 210 adults at least 12 weeks after COVID-19 assessed symptoms, labs, and imaging, finding fatigue in 67.6%, breathlessness in 42.8%, cognitive issues in 39.5%, and myalgia in 34.7%.

Caveat

The abstract has incomplete reporting around the inflammatory-marker result and the cross-sectional design cannot establish mechanisms for persistent symptoms.
