Abstract
Psilocybin-assisted therapy (PAT) may improve symptoms of demoralization and chronic pain in early palliative care.
- Demoralization is characterized by feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, and loss of meaning.
- Chronic pain is often a significant source of distress for patients in palliative care.
- Preliminary data indicate that PAT could lead to improvements in pain levels and feelings of demoralization.
- PAT has not been previously studied in patients experiencing both demoralization and chronic pain.
- This intervention has yet to be integrated into routine outpatient palliative care settings.
