Abstract
Psilocybin-treated planarians showed a significantly greater shift in light preference compared to controls.
- A single exposure to 5 µM psilocybin was used to assess its effects on associative learning in planarians.
- Planarians underwent 5 days of conditioning where light was paired with sucrose.
- The significant interaction observed (F(2,38) = 3.3, P < 0.05) indicates enhanced appetitive learning in psilocybin-treated planarians.
- Effects of psilocybin on learning persisted for at least 6 days post-administration.
- These findings suggest that psilocybin may influence neuroplasticity via conserved serotonergic mechanisms.
