Updated

Abstract

Retention was 63% at 6 weeks and 50% at 12 weeks in a trial involving 100 participants.

  • At 12 weeks, 96% of the nicotine vaping product (NVP) group reported using the device, compared to 68% of the nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) group using combination NRT.
  • 14% of the NVP group and 18% of the NRT group reported not smoking at all in the last 7 days.
  • Mean cigarettes smoked per day (CPD) significantly decreased from 19.91 to 4.72 in the NVP group and from 20.88 to 5.52 in the NRT group.
  • Cravings and withdrawal symptoms significantly decreased for both groups between baseline and 12 weeks.
  • High acceptability ratings were reported for both NVP and NRT among participants.
