The CRGD-targeted and ROS-responsive micelles effectively enhance the delivery of resveratrol to activated hepatic stellate cells.

  • Activated hepatic stellate cells (aHSCs) secrete excessive extracellular matrix, contributing to liver fibrosis.
  • Reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels increase sharply in aHSCs, providing a mechanism for targeted drug delivery.
  • Micelles designed with a ROS-responsive polymer and a targeting peptide can specifically deliver resveratrol to aHSCs.
  • In vitro, these micelles promote ROS consumption, reduce collagen accumulation, and prevent the activation of aHSCs.
  • In vivo, the micelles alleviate inflammation, prevent fibrosis, and protect liver cells in fibrotic mice.
