Improvement of stubborn scalp follicle inflammation with tirzepatide: A case report

Updated

Abstract

Significant symptom improvement and hair regrowth were observed in a man with recalcitrant folliculitis decalvans following tirzepatide treatment.

  • Folliculitis decalvans is characterized by painful, scarring lesions and recurrent flares.
  • Current treatment options for folliculitis decalvans are limited and often ineffective.
  • Tirzepatide, traditionally used for weight management, may provide therapeutic benefits for folliculitis decalvans.
  • The potential benefits of tirzepatide could be linked to its anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties.
  • This case suggests a need for further investigation into GLP-1 receptor agonists for managing refractory dermatologic diseases.
