How Often Sleep Movement Problems Occur in People with Parkinson’s Disease

Updated

Abstract

Fifteen point five percent (15.5%) of Parkinson's disease patients exhibited REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD).

  • Patients with RBD had a longer duration of treatment compared to those without RBD (9.4 years vs. 6.3 years).
  • The motor symptoms, as measured by the UPDRS motor score, were more severe in patients with RBD (19.1 vs. 12.7).
  • Depressive symptoms, assessed by the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale, were also more pronounced in RBD patients (10.1 vs. 6.4).
  • No significant differences were found between the RBD and non-RBD groups regarding age, gender, or other clinical characteristics.
