Safety and immune response of a delayed booster dose of the Ebola vaccine in a multi-center clinical trial

Updated

Abstract

At month 36, geometric mean antibody titres were 10,146 EU/mL in the booster group compared to 1,240 EU/mL in the no-booster group.

  • Increased geometric mean titres in the no-booster group from 10 ELISA units (EU)/mL at baseline to 1,451 EU/mL at 18 months.
  • In the booster group, GMTs rose from 9 EU/mL at baseline to 1,769 EU/mL at 18 months.
  • At month 19, GMTs were 31,408 EU/mL for the booster group compared to 1,406 EU/mL for the no-booster group.
  • The geometric mean ratio of antibody titres was 20.6 times higher in the booster group at one month after the booster administration.
  • At month 36, the geometric mean ratio remained over 7-fold higher in the booster group compared to the no-booster group.
  • No new safety concerns were identified after booster administration, with transient arthritis occurring in 9% of recipients after primary vaccination.
