Updated

Abstract

Seasonal depression (SAD) was identified in 25 patients, showing lower occupational and cognitive impairment compared to nonseasonal depression in 43 patients.

  • Seasonal depression is associated with less psychiatric intervention than nonseasonal depression.
  • Symptoms of hopelessness and weight loss are particularly predictive of nonseasonal depression.
  • The study highlights potential differences in symptom profiles between seasonal and nonseasonal depression.
  • Findings suggest that seasonal depression may be a milder variant of depression.
