Testing a Self-Help Lymphatic Drainage Method to Reduce Fatigue Symptoms in Long COVID Patients in Primary Care

Abstract

Of 138 eligible participants, 126 (90.6%) agreed to join two randomized controlled trials on long COVID-related fatigue.

  • Follow-up rates were 79.3% at 3 months and 59.4% at 6 months.
  • Improvements in fatigue scores were seen in both groups, with a larger reduction in the intervention group.
  • The intervention included self-massage, mobility, flexibility, breathing exercises, and alternating temperature packs.
  • Participant feedback indicated interest in the intervention, though some found it challenging at times.
  • This study suggests that a low-cost self-help approach may help reduce fatigue in some individuals.
