Different effects of semaglutide and CRV431 combined treatment on liver scarring and liver cancer in a fatty liver disease mouse model

Updated

Abstract

Semaglutide treatment significantly reduced body weight and decreased hepatocellular carcinoma burden (p < 0.0001).

  • Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is linked to advanced fibrosis and increased risk of liver cancer.
  • The combination of GLP-1 receptor agonism with cyclophilin inhibition did not enhance antifibrotic effects compared to GLP-1 monotherapy.
  • Fibrosis levels measured by picrosirius red staining showed no significant differences across treatment groups (p = 0.1725).
  • Stage-dependent factors may limit the effectiveness of combined therapies in advanced MASLD.
