Semaglutide's effects on food preferences in Japanese people with type 2 diabetes and belly fat

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Semaglutide treatment was linked to weight loss and reduced preferences for carbohydrate-rich and non-sweet fatty foods in Japanese patients with type 2 diabetes and visceral fat accumulation.

Evidence

This retrospective observational study followed 21 obese hospitalized T2DM subjects for 6 months, including 13 semaglutide users and 8 non-GLP-1 controls with questionnaire-based food preference measures.

Caveat

The small, nonrandomized follow-up sample and self-reported preference questionnaires limit causal interpretation.
