Abstract
A 53-year-old woman developed ischemic colitis after starting semaglutide.
- Ischemic colitis typically occurs in patients with vascular risk factors.
- This case presents a patient without comorbidities who experienced acute abdominal pain and bloody stools.
- Imaging, colonoscopy, and biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of ischemic colitis.
- Infectious testing returned negative for other causes.
- Symptoms resolved after stopping semaglutide and providing supportive care.
- There may be an association between glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists and ischemic colitis.
