Cost-effectiveness of 2.4 mg Semaglutide for Obese Patients with Fatty Liver Disease in Italy's Health System

Updated

Abstract

Essence

Semaglutide 2.4 mg was modeled as a cost-effective option for obese Italian adults with MASH <=F3 without diabetes.

Evidence

A 10-year Italian NHS Markov cost-effectiveness model compared semaglutide 2.4 mg with no pharmacological treatment in an estimated 782,920 obese Italian adults with MASH <=F3 without diabetes and found an ICER of EUR22,691 per QALY gained.

Caveat

The result depends on model assumptions, including unreimbursed drug costs, epidemiologic population estimates, and utility values drawn from international literature.
