Abstract
Essence
Semaglutide initiation was followed by symptomatic remission and mucosal healing in a patient with left-sided and poorly controlled diabetes.
Evidence
This single case report describes a 42-year-old woman with left-sided UC whose persistent symptoms on maximal mesalamine improved to clinical remission by 8 weeks after semaglutide, with improved fecal calprotectin and follow-up colonoscopy findings.
Caveat
A single uncontrolled case cannot show that semaglutide caused remission or define its role apart from mesalamine and the patient's metabolic changes.
