Semaglutide's effects on weight loss and inflammation in people with HIV in Greece

Updated

Abstract

At 24 months, the median weight loss was -14.6 kg in people with HIV (PWH) receiving semaglutide.

  • Semaglutide treatment resulted in significant and sustained weight loss in both PWH and non-HIV groups.
  • Glycemic control improved significantly in both groups, with mean HbA1c decreasing in PWH from 7.7% to 5.2%.
  • Significant reductions in inflammatory markers, including hsCRP and sCD14, were observed in both cohorts.
  • The CD4/CD8 ratio significantly increased in the PWH group, indicating potential immune system benefits.
