Weight Loss with 25 mg Oral Semaglutide Compared to 2.4 mg Injectable Semaglutide

Updated

Abstract

Oral semaglutide 25 mg and subcutaneous (s.c.) semaglutide 2.4 mg are associated with comparable efficacy for weight management.

  • Both formulations resulted in similar percentage changes in body weight among adults with obesity.
  • A small numerical advantage for s.c. semaglutide in percentage weight change was observed, but this difference was not clinically significant.
  • The proportion of participants achieving ≥ 5%, ≥ 10%, ≥ 15%, and ≥ 20% weight loss was comparable between the two formulations.
  • Changes in cardiometabolic parameters and quality of life metrics were also similar for both oral and s.c. semaglutide.
  • Safety profiles for both formulations were broadly comparable, indicating similar tolerability.
