Abstract
Serum/glucocorticoid-regulated kinase 2 (SGK2) is predominantly expressed in renal proximal tubular cells.
- Progressive tubulointerstitial injury is a significant factor in the decline of renal function in diabetic kidney disease (DKD).
- Ferroptosis, a form of cell death, is associated with tubular injury in DKD but its molecular regulators are not fully understood.
- SGK2 may regulate ferroptosis, as indicated by its role in prostate cancer.
- The specific function of SGK2 in the context of DKD and tubular ferroptosis remains largely unexplored.
