Abstract
The study evaluated the effects of adding sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs), or pioglitazone in Asian adults with type 2 diabetes and metabolic liver disease.
- SGLT2 inhibitors, GLP-1RAs, and pioglitazone may have distinct impacts on liver health and metabolism in patients with type 2 diabetes.
- The evaluation focused on adults diagnosed with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).
- Incremental effects of these medications were assessed alongside existing glucose-lowering treatments.
- Findings may contribute to understanding optimal treatment combinations for managing diabetes-related liver complications.
