Updated

Abstract

Shift workers have a 2.24 times higher odds of developing gastritis compared to non-shift workers.

  • Night shift workers reported more indigestion compared to non-shift workers (P<0.01).
  • The overall rate of gastritis was higher in shift workers.
  • Adjustments for factors like age and lifestyle confirmed the association between shift work and increased gastritis risk.
  • Only superficial gastritis showed a significant association with shift work (odds ratio 1.58).
  • Endoscopic evaluations indicated that shift work may negatively affect gastrointestinal health.
