Single-cell CRISPR tests show enhancers mostly increase gene activity by multiplying effects
Updated
Abstract
A total of 46,166 enhancer pairs were tested for interactions with genes using the GLiMMIRS framework.
- Enhancer effects are observed to combine multiplicatively.
- Only 31 enhancer pairs showed significant interactions, with none from the high-confidence set.
- 20 of the significant interactions were influenced by outlier expression values.
- Further analyses suggest that enhancer interactions may be uncommon or have small effects that are hard to detect.
