How Sleep Quality and Mental Disengagement Connect Body Clock Type to ADHD Symptoms in Adults with Attention Problems

Updated

Abstract

Eveningness is associated with poorer sleep quality in adults with attentional complaints.

  • Poor sleep quality is linked to higher symptoms of Cognitive Disengagement Syndrome (CDS).
  • CDS is significantly related to both inattention and hyperactivity/impulsivity symptoms.
  • Significant indirect effects of chronotype on ADHD symptoms occur through sleep quality and CDS.
  • The models accounted for 50.0% of the variance in inattention and 21.3% in hyperactivity/impulsivity.
  • The association with CDS is specifically stronger for the Daydreaming subdimension rather than Sluggishness.
