Using Smartphone Apps and Wearable Devices to Track Health in Young Adults

Updated

Abstract

A total of 693 questionnaires were analyzed, revealing that 46.2% of young adults use apps or wearables primarily for physical activity monitoring.

  • Daily use of apps and wearables for health tracking is common, especially for wearables.
  • Physical activity monitoring is the most frequently reported use among participants.
  • Diet and mental health tracking are less commonly monitored, with only 8.7% and 22.5% of users respectively.
  • User-friendliness, free access to content, loading speed, and icon clarity are the most valued features of these tools.
  • The findings indicate a tendency to monitor health variables rather than actively improve them.
