How socioeconomic factors relate to semaglutide use for weight loss in Denmark

Updated

Abstract

Essence

In Denmark, semaglutide prescriptions for weight loss rose with income even though obesity was more common in lower-income groups.

Evidence

The evidence is a nationwide register-based cross-sectional study of 4,531,146 adults without diabetes, with obesity patterns estimated from a representative sample of 36,391 people.

Caveat

The analysis links income to redeemed prescriptions and sampled obesity prevalence, but it does not directly measure individual treatment need, access barriers, or outcomes.
